El Comercio very happy with Uniset 75

MAN Uniset 75 at El Comercio PeruDuring the recent ATDL newspaper printers annual meeting in Medellín, Columbia, the organisation published a nice article about El Comercio. The Peruvian print house is really happy with their 'new' MAN Uniset-75, which was sold to them and installed by GWS Printing Systems.

In the article El Comercio's Managing Director Ignacio Prado explains how they were looking to print their main newspapers in Berlin size. Their existing press could not be modified and they needed a large production capacity to be able to print weekend editions of all newspapers, as well as titles of publishing group EPENSA which El Comercio had taken over in 2013.

During the 2013 ATDL conference, Jordi Segura, GWS' Sales Manager for South America, informed him of the availability of a number of nice, 2007 manroland press in the UK. Their interest was quickly triggered by the 12-tower MAN Uniset-75 that was on offer. A number of modifications to the original setup were required, but could be taken care of by GWS.
Following visits in December 2013 and January 2014, the decision was taken to buy the press. GWS then handled the complete project, from dismantling in the UK to taking into production in Lima. A massive project that took over 16 months in total.
The press started production in July 2015 and the print house now produces some 1.350.000 newspapers each day with the Uniset 75 press and the already existing Goss Newsliner press.
